Year 2024
I look forward to blogging how the year panned out, you can read more about how 2023 went here and first half of this year here. 2024 has been a rollercoaster year for me training-wise and personally, glad the year is over. Eagerly looking forward to 2025.
I limit my participation in racing events in general, 2024 was no different. Whilst I continue to train all through the year, I specifically train and run only one marathon race/event - I like to cherrypick races that I want to participate in. This year I ran the Tokyo Marathon, you read all about it here and the 12-weeks training buildup for that race here. I have been meaning to run an ultramarathon since 2023, finally got around to running one in Dec, The Border Ultra - The Hell Race, the race lived upto it's name. I ran with a buddy of mine, it was a lot of fun to train with and race alongside him, details are here. I like to look at data and analyse how the year went by, now that we have got races out of the way.

Here are some 2024 stats,
- 3,009.40 km, 250.8 km/month, 57.9 km/week. Happy overall, but 3,660 km would have been sweet
- 88 strength training sessions, ~7-8 sessions/month, but 100 would have been great
- 373h02m48s - Time spent being active/exercising (running, walking and strength training), which translates to 1h01m19s, whilst these numbers might look crazy, but when you average out, it's just an hour/day
- I averaged about 15,279 steps/day, ~1,000 steps/day more compared to 2023
- Sleep data hasn't been great, averaged about 5h42m, 2023 wasn't great either it was 6h03m
- My weight didn't fluctuate much, was mostly in the 69-70 kg ballpark
- Diet to some extent, but more than diet, portion control continues to be a challenge :)
- Remain injury-free
- Consistent training volume: 3,650 km running and 100-120 strength training sessions
- Try and fix sleep
- Stricter diet/nutrition/portion control focus
- Run a decent sub 4h marathon, haven't focused on pace since Tokyo Marathon. Unsure if there is pace left in my legs!
- Run Malnad Ultra, in prep for Khardung La 72 km in 2026
- Still figuring out if I should squeeze in a 10-12 weeks training block for a fast half marathon, with a target of 100 minutes or thereabouts. What do you guys reckon?
I think you're being too hard on yourself bro. Congrats on a good year and all the best for an amazing 2025!
